Paul James Fawcett
Solicitor-Director
Accredited Specialist, Family Law
After 5 years overseeing the Family Law practice of one of the Central Coast’s leading law firms, Paul established Catalyst Family Lawyers with the purpose of helping separating couples protect their families from conflict and maintain financial security by reaching amicable solutions without going to Court.
Before commencing his legal career, Paul was a primary school teacher in inner-Sydney where he dealt with challenging family and children’s issues on a daily basis.
“As a teacher I saw first-hand the damage that can happen to children’s emotional and psychological welfare when their parents are ‘at war’ with each other.”
In 2003 Paul completed an internship in policy and law at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Working and living in New York at the commencement of the Iraq War exposed him to unprecedented international conflict. This led to a realisation that conflict, whether on international scale or within a family structure is an ineffective, inefficient and costly way of resolving disputes.
“I want to help people who are separating or divorcing work through their legal issues while maintaining their self-respect and dignity; people who want a fair financial settlement, care about what is best for their children and wishing to amicably resolve their differences with their former spouses so that they, and their families, can move on with their lives.”
Born and educated on the Central Coast, Paul is uniquely placed to understand the issues and challenges facing our community.
When he’s not at work, Paul enjoys spending time with his young family and can often be seen on one of our beautiful Central Coast beaches.
